Over 150 years Aerzener Maschinenfabrik

QUALITY BY TRADITION

AERZEN looks back on an eventful history. Whether Wilhelm Meyer, who was the first on the continent to have positive displacement blowers made using the Roots method, Hermann Allstaedt, the Managing Director during the 1930s who focused production consistently on blowers, pumps and gas meters,or Hasso Heller, who founded the first subsidiary Aerzen France in 1968 to set the company on course for internationalisation – over the last 150years we “Aerzeners” repeatedly took brave decisionsto put us a step ahead of the competition.

The manufacturer and graduated businessman Wilhelm Meyer

Aerzener Maschinenfabrik is founded by the manufacturer and graduated businessman Wilhelm Meyer.

the castings for machines made in Aerzen were produced in the factory’s own iron foundry

Since 1868, all the castings for machines made in Aerzen were produced in the factory’s own iron foundry.

The company produces the first positive displacement blowers produced on the European continent

1868

From 1868 onwards the company produces the first positive displacement blowers produced on the European continent using the method developed by Francis Marion Roots – blowers that are far more efficient than conventional machines.

The first company building

1872

Wilhelm Meyer leaves the company and surrenders it to his younger brothers Sigmund and Emil.

Old poster of the AERZEN modern dust removal system

1909

Aerzener Maschinenfabrik has innovations patented: the “modern dust removal system” (by means of a tube system an Aerzen positive displacement blower installed in the cellar removes the dust from curtains, carpets and furniture) and silencers for blowers.

The new generation of rotary piston pumps at work

1926

The generation of rotary piston pumps is introduced on the market: The shape of the rotors is similar to the shape of the rotary pistons of the blowers. They distinguish themselves by symmetrical, two-lobe profiles, which enables them to convey thick as well as thin liquids.

An old rotary piston gas meter - it was an decisive step on the path towards a special factory for positive displacement machines and thus out of the economic crisis

1930

In the difficult period of the world economic crisis in Aerzen the production of rotary piston gas meters starts, a decisive step on the path towards a special factory for positive displacement machines and thus out of the economic crisis.

Karlheinrich Heller - he assumes the management of the company in 1941

1941

1943

Screw compressors working according to the Lysholm-principle are produced. With initially oil-free handling with internal compression they achieve higher compression ratios than positive displacement blowers.

Employees celebrate the leaving of the 100.000th positive displacement blower

1959

Shortly after the inauguration of a new production hall the 100,000th positive displacement blower leaves Aerzener Maschinenfabrik.

A lot of AERZEN employees celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company

1960

After the sudden death of Karlheinrich Heller in July 1960 Paul Grote takes over the management of the company for five years and leads Aerzener Maschinenfabrik through the 100th anniversary of the company.
