Success Story- AERZEN technology in milling industry

Delta Twin unit made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik with two oil-free screw compressor units with a volume flow of each 1125 m3/h, driven by two 132 kW-motors

At the Wesermühlen in Hamelin wheat, rye, and corn are milled and then supplied to the international baking- and foodstuff industry. „After expansion of our production plants the old compressed air unit was not sufficient any longer“, says factory manager Ulf Renken. Since October 2006 a new unit, a Delta Twin unit made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik works there. It consists of two oil-free screw compressor units with a volume flow of each 1125 m3/h, driven by two 132 kW-motors. The generated differential pressure is 8 bar.

Economical also in maintenance

„With the new machine we are saving 20 per cent of energy“, Renken is pleased. All necessary operation parameters are transparent via a PC-program. The units are driven by belts which are automatically kept in tension by means of a hinged motor support. Therefore, the drive can be checked visually. „Aerzener takes over the costs of maintenance and inspection“, explains the factory manager. This is possible at site, as all the components are freely accessible.
In the foodstuff industry oil-free operation is very important. „Oil-injected machines are less expensive concerning the purchase, but an extensive filtration and the use of active carbon would be necessary. This inevitably leads to a differential pressure of 1-1,5 bar, which increases the energy consumption considerably“, explains Renken. „The risk of an increased residual oil input is process-technically excluded with the absolutely oil-free Delta-Twins."

Confidence for decades

Since the sixties, Wesermühlen, belonging to Kampffmeyer Mühlen GmbH, have been trusting in machines from Aerzen. 40 blowers and compressors made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik are in operation here. „For us it has been clear that we will again choose an Aerzen product also for the new plant”, says Renken. „And we are very satisfied.“
